Transition to NAPLAN Online

The National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) is an annual assessment for students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9. Planning has begun to move NAPLAN from a pen and paper assessment to an online assessment. Our chickens are loving the chook tractor made by the students, and are growing well, enjoying the food scraps keenly delivered after fruit break each day. In the K12 classroom the incubator has been busy too, with four little silkies hatching out of their eggs- very eggciting news! They are now living in a brooder box for a while to keep them warm.... Students sampled the Towamba river near the school for our Autumn survey, revealing many different invertebrates such as diving beetles, freshwater shrimp, water boatmen, mayfly and caddisfly nymphs and more. All data is loaded up into the Waterwatch website- collating longterm data from all around the state on water quality and biota.... Read more

Payments -deadline this Friday

A reminder that ALL payments must be in by this Friday. In addition, from 4:00 pm this Friday 12 May 2017, parents and carers will be unable to make online payments via our school website. Today we welcomed Chelsy and Nathan into our school for the start of a two term program incorporating Aboriginal culture and language. It is with a mixture of sadness and joy that we announce that Mr Claxton will be leaving Towamba PS at the end of this term. Sadness as all the students and families and staff will miss the zest he has brought to our school, but also joy that his skills in engaging and exciting learning will be shared with another group of students and families. Introducing Healthy School Canteens

The introduction of the revised Healthy School Canteen Strategy increases the availability of healthy food and drink options in school canteens to make the healthy choice, the easy choice. It replaces the Fresh Tastes@School Strategy in NSW schools that was commonly known as the traffic light system. The revised strategy is consistent with the 2013 Australian Dietary Guidelines and classifies food and drinks as either Everyday or Occasional. Sugary drinks will continue not to be sold. 2017 first swimming carnival

Thursday February 2 is the Towamba Tanja and Wyndham swimming carnival at Candelo Pool. All students should be at the pool by 10am, and everything should be finished by around 2pm.
