Come play this summer

These holidays, school playgrounds at 42 NSW public schools will be open for neighbours and others to enjoy under a NSW Government initiative to broaden community recreation and open space options. Schools in the program will be open from 8am to 6pm from 23 December to the end of the school holidays in late January. 2018 Resource Allocation Model funding

In October 2017, all NSW public schools will receive a 2018 Planned School Budget Allocation Report. The report will assist with the management of the total budget delivered to schools through the Resource Allocation Model (RAM). The Resource Allocation Model (RAM) methodology distributes funding based on the individual needs of students and schools. This gives schools greater flexibility to make local decisions. Last week Mr. Dinwoodie accompanied the Stage 3 students to Canberra along with 5 other schools. When we went up Brown Mountain on day 1 we were treated with a thick layer of snow for around 20km which made for an exciting start to the trip. The students were kept very busy and stimulated the entire time with breakfast being served at 7am and with the students not returning back to our accommodation until after 9pm each night. NDIS continues its roll out across NSW

The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) started in NSW in July 2016, rolling out across half of the state. The rollout for the rest of NSW started on 1 July 2017 and the NDIS will be fully rolled out by mid 2018. The NSW government is writing to the families of children and young people with disability who currently receive disability supports in the rollout areas to advise how and when they will enter the NDIS. NAPLAN Online School readiness test

NSW schools will participate in the NAPLAN Online School Readiness Test from 14 August to 22 September. There is a lot of information for schools, students and parents on the NAPLAN Online transition website. The school readiness test is a ‘practice run' for schools to assess their technology as we prepare to transition to NAPLAN Online. It provides an opportunity for schools to become familiar with the NAPLAN Online assessment platform but is not an assessment of student ability.... Read more

Next week (Monday 31 July – Friday 4 August) is Education Week, a statewide annual event to celebrate public education in NSW. Welcome Mr Dinwoodie

The P&C are running a morning tea to welcome Mr Dinwoodie to our school. Thursday 15 June- come along for the parent workshop on creating healthy meals (run by the Cancer Council) and then stay for a welcome cuppa and chat. All parents welcome. Please bring a plate. Chickens at Towamba

Our chickens are loving the chook tractor made by the students, and are growing well, enjoying the food scraps keenly delivered after fruit break each day. In the K12 classroom the incubator has been busy too, with four little silkies hatching out of their eggs- very eggciting news! They are now living in a brooder box for a while to keep them warm.... Bug watch

Students sampled the Towamba river near the school for our Autumn survey, revealing many different invertebrates such as diving beetles, freshwater shrimp, water boatmen, mayfly and caddisfly nymphs and more. All data is loaded up into the Waterwatch website- collating longterm data from all around the state on water quality and biota.... Read more


Payments -deadline this Friday

A reminder that ALL payments must be in by this Friday. In addition, from 4:00 pm this Friday 12 May 2017, parents and carers will be unable to make online payments via our school website. From this time, the ‘Make a Payment' button will be removed by the Department's School Website Service team to allow for important pre-deployment system preparations.... Read more

Today we welcomed Chelsy and Nathan into our school for the start of a two term program incorporating Aboriginal culture and language. The sound of the didjeridu resonated across the valley and everyone enjoyed the introductory session, and will be looking forward to our fortnightly program. As part of their learning about ANZAC Day on the first day back this term, students were shown a selection of portraits of military personnel, and then sketched their choice - as part of seeing through their eyes and understanding. A wonderful gift

A beautiful custom made wooden bench for the school was presented by Mr Claxton at the farewell assembly last term. It is an piece of art, with gorgeous timber colours and grains enhanced with a lovely smelling oil. It even has Towamba engraved on the backrest. Something to treasure, thank you Mr Claxton.... It is with a mixture of sadness and joy that we announce that Mr Claxton will be leaving Towamba PS at the end of this term. Sadness as all the students and families and staff will miss the zest he has brought to our school, but also joy that his skills in engaging and exciting learning will be shared with another group of students and families. Our young leaders

Our Year 5 & 6 students are up in Sydney attending the Halogen Young Leader's conference with thousands of other students from around the state. A quick run through Sydney's downpour made them early and scored seats near the front too, ready for a day of stimulating and affirming speakers.... Read more
